FLY FISHING GUIDE SCHOOL
An intensive and highly structured course that will prepare
you for a successful career as a fly fishing guide. This is
also an excellent course for anyone who is interested in learning
advanced fly fishing and drift boat or raft handling skills.
Our course is conducted "on the water" with a ratio
of two students per instructor and includes six days of instruction
and evening seminars by experienced professional guides, deluxe
lodging overlooking the Missouri river and meals. You'll have
a lot of fun during this school with our friendly instructors
and you'll learn about;
- professional licensing and regulations
- equipment selection, preparation and maintenance
- how to conduct a safe trip
- how to properly row, position and fish from a drift boat
and raft
- how to provide basic and advanced casting and knot tying
instruction
- how to read the water as a guide
- practical entomology and fly selection
- basic and advanced dry fly, nymph and streamer fishing techniques
- how to properly play, land and release fish
- photography tips
- food storage, preparation and presentation of streamside
meals
- wade fishing and float fishing etiquette
- how to provide exceptional customer service to promote repeat
business
- students will also receive basic first aid and CPR training
and certification, a certificate of course completion, letters
of recommendation, and job referral information
